Opened in South Pigalle by the team behind Candelaria, Le Glass is all about novelties flown over from the US: special cocktails, mixers with Pisco, ‘Boilermakers’ (a shot followed by a beer) and a wide selection of imported bottled beers, all accompanied by hot dogs and pickles.
With a decor of broken mirrors, disco balls and soft lighting, you may get the impression of being in a club rather than a bar, and the small space quickly fills up with the local chic, beautiful crowd.

South Pigalle welcomes another hip new venue that is injecting a more hipster vibe into the once totally down-at-heel area. Once a hostess bar (they’ve kept the name, evidently), the only phallic elements these days are the Polynesian totems scattered throughout the bar, which has a kitsch, exotic ‘tiki’ vibe (luxuriant plants, bamboo furniture and coloured lights, a fumoir full of stuffed animal heads) and lots of free-flowing rum – the sort of bar that flourished in the US after the end of Prohibition, but which has only now made it to Paris.

A characterful Louisiana-themed cocktail bar serving punchy cocktails and Southern-style snacks beneath a titillating voodoo décor.
Behind the shuttered windows at Notre-Dame de Lorette, restaurateurs Joseph Biolatto et Julien Escot have built their own little slice of bayou: a charming Louisiana-themed cocktail bar called Le Bâton Rouge. The space is small, refined and very appealing, with soft, dim lighting and voodoo décor. Against one wall, tiny painted skulls hover menacingly on ‘bloody’ spikes.

Good luck asking for 'the usual' in this bar in trendy South Pigalle! The menu changes every two weeks, in accordance with the seasonal produce and the whims of the owners. Artisan arrives on the cocktail scene with serious bourgeois credentials: it's run by the team who brought Parisians Long Island meat platters, and the resident mixologist Frédéric Le Bordays is the man behind the cocktail recipe book 'Les nouveaux cocktails classiques'. It more or less lives up to the hype.
Heading in, you find yourself in a spacious, well-lit room punctuated by large stone pillars and the elegant U-shaped bar. High tables, an olive tree and a collection of ancient-looking mirrors complete the picture (there's also a darker, cosier room in the back). Old-school soul and jazz on the sound system set the mood for a chilled drink or two...

Top notch Mexican food has landed in Pigalle – and there’s not a cheesy sombrero in sight. The cuisine does its own talking at Luz Verde, a stylish taqueria and wine bar in the 9th arrondissement. Run by Frenchie alums, bartender Quentin Zuddas and cook Alexis Delassaux have gathered a passionate following since they opened in late 2014.

All too often, 'Mexican' cuisine abroad is a byword for Americanised fast food. Not so at Le Dépanneur Pigalle. By the time you've taken a seat at one of the elegant wooden tables adorned with cacti, you'll already have forgotten you're in Paris.
